A K Pasha


Professor Pasha holds M.A. Degrees in Middle Eastern Studies and Political Science from Mysore University; M.Phil and PhD from Jawaharlal Nehru University. He has previously taught at the Centre of West Asian Studies, Aligarh Muslim University, India. He has been a Research Fellow at the Faculty of Economics and Political Science, Cairo University, Egypt. He has served as Chairperson, and is now Director, Gulf Studies, at CWAAS, SIS, JNU. He has also been Director, Maulana Azad Centre for Indian Culture, Cairo, Egypt. His research, teaching and writing focused on West Asia and North Africa and he is the author, editor or co-editor of over two dozen books on India, Gulf, West Asia and North Africa. His recent books are Iran, Iraq and the GCC States; India and Turkey; Iraq: Sanctions and Wars; Egypt in a Changing World; Arab-Israeli Peace Process; India, Iran and the GCC States; India and West Asia; India and Oman; Contemporary Gulf; Perspectives on India and the Gulf; India and Kuwait; India: Bahrain and Qatar; and Political Participation in Gulf States. He has contributed research chapters to numerous edited books and his articles have been published in several well known journals. He serves on the editorial boards of many national and international journals including International Studies, Journal of Strategic Studies (Bahrain); Academic Board, Gulf Research Centre, Dubai, UAE and Member International Advisory Board, Alternatives: Turkish Journal of International Relations, Istanbul, Turkey. He is Ex-Chairman, Board of Studies, Center for West Asian Studies, and member, Governing Body of the Chair for Maritime Studies and Research, Calicut University, Kerala; Member, Board of Studies, SIS, JNU; Ex-Member, Board of Studies, Center of West Asian Studies, Aligarh Muslim University; Ex Member, Academic Council, Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi; Member, Board of Studies, Center for West Asian Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi; Executive Committee Member, Indian Association for Central and West Asian Studies, Academy of Third World Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi; Member, Research Board, Centre for Peace Studies, New Delhi; Member, Institute for Defense Studies and Analyses, New Delhi; Ex-Member, Board of Studies, Centre for Minorities and Dalit Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi; Convener, Academic Committee on Central, West Asia and the Balkans, Institute of Objective Studies, New Delhi. He is currently at work on a book, India and the GCC States since 1970.
